I saw this idea on kids activities blog and decided to do it with boys (N was visiting her grandparents). It’s a very simple and engaging activity for fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination.
- pipe cleaners (whatever colour for a snake and red for the tongue)
- beads – we used pony beads and small wooden ones
- googly eyes
- glue gun
First we thread the beads on a pipe cleaner. When it’s ready we roll one end to form the head, attach googly eyes and tongue and… voilà!
While S was making snakes, V was practising threading bigger wooden beads. It’s amazing how different my boys are. S has always had very skilful fingers, when 2yo he was threading buttons and beads without bigger problems. V on the other hand does need way more practice. Good to remind oneself how unique each child is!
